Barn Projects

Now that the house has been fixed up (well don't look at the kitchen), Mike has been working outside since the weather is nice. The guy who owned our house before cut this large hole in the barn for his homing pigeons (that sound you hear is me banging my head against the wall wondering why some idiot would do that to a nice looking barn when there are 2 perfectly funtioning loft doors he could've opened). So we couldn't really patch it back up with metal and make it look nice. So Mike came up with the idea of finding old windows and installing them to give it a rustic look. I think it turned out nicely. Mike still needs to frame them in, but its definately better than what was there. Still need to fix all the flashing along the roof and rebuild the other door that "blew" away in a wind storm when that guy owned the house. But the projects are getting checked off. :)

More Projects...

So show carts are ridiculously priced if you want to get one new. I try to find fixer-uppers and go from there to save money. Mike has helped me re-finish 2 carts already that we sold for lots more. :) But I think these two will be the most work so far. Both need paint, leather wraps, tires, accessories, etc. But we're going to work on the paint now while its still warm. Then I can accessorize and such later. Think we may buy car pin stripping and do some nice designs. But here are the before pics. The black one is a Wilform cart and the other is a Jerald. Both are pony size and in need of lots of work.

More Carver and Moko

Need I say more???

Project??

So I saw these cute rods with pictures hung on them in various people's houses and just thought they were adorable. So we have a few bare walls in the basement and thought I'd try this out in our family room. Project was going good until I couldn't get the pictures to hang straight. Then I started getting mad and then the curse words followed. Needless to say, Mike had to take over and finish. I guess there's a reason why I'm not a crafty person. I'll leave it to the experts next time! Hahaha!

Some pics of my ponies at Logan

I purchased a CD from the photographers of all the pics they took. They posted some on their website. I'm sure these aren't the best pics they have and they aren't cleaned up. But this gives you an idea. The ponies were shown 10pm-12:15pm Friday night. So it was dark.

Little Turd!

Okay everyone! Stop the presses! Carver went poopy on the toilet all by himself today. Yeah!!! Making headway in our potty training! Mike wanted to take a picture, but I told him that was just disgusting! Hahaha!!!

Logan Show Results

Someone please don't tell me its already mid August?? Where did the month go? Anyways, we had our last show of the season. Its nice to finally sit back and relax without having to fit in horse training/conditioning. Starting next week, I will have a couple on my list of new training. So they aren't out of it. But I had a blast a Logan. It even rained on Saturday morning and made for a tolerable day after the rain stopped. My herd of boys did good. RJ came away with 2 senior grands and 1 overall grand in halter. He also won his jumping classes as well as his liberty (under 2 judges and got a 2 & 3 under the other 2). Bugs ended up with 2 senior and 2 overall grand championships in halter. He is really starting to take to showing. So I'm excited and he'll start driving training next week. Can't wait to see him in the cart! Paul took his roadster classes. He's a good sport and I'm hoping to get him going for formal pleasure driving (or open). So he'll start next week on learning the proper way to walk and whoa and back. :) Chase did alright. This was a show we really butted heads at. He won his jumping and hunter class, took 3rds in halter out of a huge group. Then threw away his driving. Oh, well. He's headed out to the pasture at a friends house and I'll continue driving him a couple times each week with her horses. Think it'll do him good to have more interaction with driving horses in the ring. She has a nice indoor arena. :) Carver had to miss his leadline. The show went incredibly late on Fri night. So Mike had to leave for work before the class started. But that was alright. I didn't get done showing until 12:15am on Friday and 8:00pm on Saturday. So it made a couple long days for me. But I did get a CD from the proffessional photographers. Hope to have some awesome pics in a month or so. Will post them later when I do recieve them.

We're Expecting!!!!

The mommy:
The daddy:
Hahahaha! Not us! But my little chicken had been missing on and off for about a week. Well, Mike found where she was laying (behind our fencing and Mike's duck decoys). I think gestation is 28 days. So not sure how long she's been laying on them, but we should be seeing some baby chicks soon. They'll be cute! Be about the size of baby quail when they are born. Not sure how many eggs she has. For sure a couple. But we'll keep you posted. I think Carver might be excited although he's not too fond of chickens after he got attacked by one (Mike took care of him).

Weber County Fair Show Results

Our club puts on a show every year at the fair. I had fun. It wasn't a large show due to it being back to back with the Logan show (this Fri-Sat) and during the work week. But I took Chase, RJ and Bugs. This was Bugs first show. He did great. Came home with his modern pleasure gelding wins and he took Shetland Supreme (best of the show for the shetlands). I was pleased with how he worked as it was his first time being anywhere and he'd only had the bit in his mouth a couple times before. Still needs more work before we hit Logan, but he should do awesome. RJ won his classic gelding division and his jumping/hunter classes. Chase did great too. Won his jumping, hunter and versatility classes. Then went on to win his gelding division and the supreme class! Woohooo!!!! He did awesome in driving too. Still a bit green and was carrying his head a little high, but its okay. So I was proud of my boys. We cleaned up in our classes. :)

The pony herd...

I put everyone out together when I cleaned stalls on Wed. Here they are enjoying themselves. RJ is the black/white, Bugs is in the red halter and Paul is in the blue halter. Carver had fun climbing on the fence and watching them.
